Westminster Helps Fight COVID-19 with Mobile Vaccine Drive
With the onset of COVID-19, the country was thrown into chaos and tragedy. The vaccinations have brought much-needed respite for everyone. Westminster School shares how private schools and school districts can help the government reach more people with vaccination drives.
Since schools are a significant part of children’s lives, they are in a solid position to influence and reach out to citizens with COVID-related information and vaccinations. Here are the various ways:
1. Become a School-Located Vaccination (SLV) Clinic
SLV clinics offer a known and comfortable location for the community to get vaccinated. From teachers and students to other eligible groups, everyone in the community can access SLV clinics.
2. Partner on COVID-19 Vaccine-Related Activities
Partnering with local health departments, municipal governments, and local healthcare providers, as well as local businesses, churches, sports teams, community-based organizations, unions, and media companies, are some practical ways to foster vaccination drives.
Schools can work with local health departments, federally qualified health centers, large pediatric practices; pharmacists; or other medical, health, or academic institutions for assistance in vaccination drives.
3. Educate Staff on COVID-19 Vaccination Queries
Getting the school staff on board for the vaccination drive is possible by conducting teacher workshops and staff meetings that increase involvement. When teachers and administrators have the facts and resources on COVID-19 vaccination, they can share the correct information with the community.
4. Foster Vaccine Confidence
Vaccinating with confidence is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 's a strategic framework to strengthen vaccine confidence and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to strengthen vaccine confidence and prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in the United States.
“Vaccine confidence” is the trust people have in recommended vaccines. Strong confidence in COVID-19 vaccines within communities leads to more adults, adolescents, and children getting vaccinated. This leads to fewer COVID-19 illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths. Sharing the correct information with the community is essential to building this confidence.
5. Teach about COVID-19 in Classrooms
Discussions and lessons about COVID-19 and vaccination can be incorporated into various subjects in age-appropriate, meaningful ways. This can help children learn about the impact of past pandemics and combat any misinformation about COVID-19.
Mobile Vaccination Drive at Westminster School
It implements a safe, effective, and comprehensive vaccination campaign that reaches people in all communities, including hard-to-reach and high-risk populations. Traveling distance, limited access to medical providers or vaccine clinics, lack of public transportation, mobility issues, and work and family care schedules make vaccination difficult for some people. Mobile vaccination is the answer to these problems.
Bringing vaccination services closer to communities on a small scale, Westminster School partnered with Dr. Adrianna Bravo and Inspired Diagnostics to host two vaccination events in November and December.
The mobile vaccine drive offered COVID-19 vaccines to many newly eligible younger students in a stress-free environment. The event was complete with fun accessories to wear, a balloon artist, and movies. Parents and staff members were also able to obtain their booster shots at the second event.
